Road safety has become a major concern worldwide, leading to debates about the best method to minimize traffic accidents. In my opinion, both punishments and other measures can be used together to promote better solution.
On the one hand, imposing punishing measures can be effective to encourage people to drive more safely. Penalties for dangerous drivers can contribute to a decrease in car accidents, so after paying the fines people would automatically stop driving aggressively or irresponsibly.Nowadays, various types of fines are imposed, ranging from small monetary penalties to more serious legal consequences. As a result, we would hope that drivers become more responsible and disciplined to folllow the rules more carefully.
On the other hand, I believe that this problem could be promoted in different ways that do not punish drivers. The main reason for this is that many people do not have sufficient financial resources to pay the penalties. That’s why I think that the government can educate people properly before they start to drive.Secondly, more attention could be paid to safe road design. For example, roads could be built with better lighting and clearer signs to prevent accidents, and speed cameras can help to deter people from driving too quickly. Finally, governments or local councils could reduce road accidents by investing more money on public transport, which would mean that fewer people would need to move by cars.
To sum up, governments should focus on both education and enforcement to improve road safety, while also investing in better road infrastructure and stricter penalties for dangerous driving.
