Having a balanced diet is crucial for people’s health. While some people believe that the government should ensure its citizens eat healthily, others claim that it is a personal obligation. From my perspective, it is necessary to have coordination between the authorities and each person.
To begin with, everyone is responsible for their own health conditions, and to maintain good overall well-being, having an optimal nutrition plan is essential. This can partially assist in the treatment of diet-related diseases such as obesity and improve health. For instance, instead of having a diet like normal people, obese patients have to cut down on the amount of sugar and fat in their diet to effectively control their weight. Besides, the diet designed by the individual is suitable for personal conditions and circumstances, as people do not waste money on foods that are both high-priced and not suitable for their health needs, which both benefits their well-being and limits economic pressure on them. In addition, finding and selecting nutritional knowledge through electronic information sites has become easier thanks to the development of information technology; therefore, people can easily personalize their diet depending on their conditions.
However, the authenticity of such information on the internet is not guaranteed, so the government plays an important role in ensuring people have access to authentic information in particular and promoting their healthy eating habits in general. One popular approach valued by the government is to integrate education about nutrition and a healthy diet into existing school curricula. This not only raises children’s initial awareness of the importance of diet but also creates a foundation for them to have appropriate nutrition. Furthermore, the popularity and attractive images of fast food advertisements contribute to stimulating appetite and encouraging people to consume these unhealthy products. Government controls and restrictions, in this case, somewhat limit people from consuming such foods.
In conclusion, although both individuals and governments have important responsibilities in developing appropriate diets, I believe that coordination between governments and individuals will bring maximum effectiveness in promoting healthy eating habits in society.
