Certain individuals believe that the government should offer the unemployed free mobile phones and internet connectivity to assist them in finding them employment. In my opinion, I agree that these two factors are key to unemployed individuals obtaining a job but I also believe that such elements such as digital literacy and equal opportunity in the job market are important.
The importance of free mobile and network connection for jobless individuals cannot be over emphasized. This has been a major topic discussed by human right activists for a considerable amount of time. It is obvious that free smartphones and internet service help the unemployed to search for and apply to job opportunities effectively which are nowadays mostly online and secondly, this will help them stay in contact with prospective employers via digital platforms such as Zoom. Hence, free access to mobile phones and internet are of paramount importance for individuals without means of employment.
Secondly, due consideration must be given to the importance of digital literacy that must go hand in hand with free mobile devices and internet availability. It is a scientifically proven fact that digital divide among people who are challenged economically can hinder their chances in landing a job in the present job market where digital skills are considered an essential. Therefore, digital literacy among the unemployed is a must.
Thirdly and finally, equal opportunity is the ultimate key to success in being hired in the present job market. It is a well-documented and proven fact that biasness and personal opinion of the interview panel plays a major role in employee selection. Hence, if equal opportunity is not granted these candidates are most likely to be eliminated in the process. In fact, it can be downright detrimental to procuring a job than receiving free mobiles and internet.
In this essay I have discussed the importance of receiving free phones and internet and two other essential aspects in order to acquire a position in the current job sector. Hence, in my opinion while receiving free mobiles and internet access is key to finding a job so are digital literacy and equal opportunity.
