Band 8+: Some people think that to learn about other countries, they need to travel. Some say that it is not necessary to travel; we can have information through TV and the Internet. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Some people think that in order to truly understand other countries, you have to travel there and experience them in person. On the other hand, some believe that television and the internet can provide enough information, making travel unnecessary. Both views have their merits, but I believe that traveling offers a unique experience that media can’t fully replicate.

When you travel to another country, you get to experience its culture, traditions, and people firsthand. Being there in person lets you interact with locals, witness cultural practices, and see the beauty and landmarks of the country up close. These personal experiences create stronger memories and a deeper connection to the place. For example, while you can watch videos about Italian food and architecture, actually tasting authentic Italian dishes and walking around historical landmarks like the Colosseum will give you a far richer, more unforgettable experience.

On the other hand, modern media also has its advantages when it comes to learning about other countries. Television and the internet offer an easy and affordable way to explore the world without needing to travel. This is especially helpful for people who don’t have the time, money, or ability to travel. Documentaries, virtual tours, and online articles provide detailed information about different cultures, history, and everyday life in foreign countries. For instance, you can easily learn about the famous landmarks in Egypt or Japan by simply browsing online, gaining a solid understanding of those places.

In conclusion, while media is an easy and affordable way to learn about different countries, nothing compares to the personal experience of traveling and interacting with a culture directly. Both methods have their benefits, but I believe that traveling is the best way to truly understand and appreciate another culture.
