Band 4+: Some people think that travelling is the best way to learn about different cultures, while other think we can about cultures through books, movies and the internet. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

It is argued that while there are so many sources to know about variety of cultures such as books, movies and the internet, majority of individuals claim that travelling is the best way of it. I support latter view and think that there is not another manner of learning about customs except going journeys. My position is argued further with explanation.

On the one hand, if we travel somewhere, we will have more opportunities to learn about cultures ofthe country in depth. In other words, we understand them more by seeing with our own eyes and we can know all about their traditions , history and cultures as well. Furthermore, we have certain informations through listening their naative population. For example, recent studies conducted by the Times indicate that most of writers wrote their books which are about different cultures through cruising those countries.

On the other hand, I would not overlook the other side too. To begin with, we also learn about civilization through social media, works and films. That is to say, we can know about different heritage online. There are such books, films and videos about lives of other countries and hence we have informations without travelling. For instance, we can give so many examples such as “Guns , germs and steel” – this book was written by Jared Diamond and it is about civilizations across the globe.

All in all, based on the aforementioned points, it can be concluded that there are too many methods of learning habits of other countries. However, I believe that travelling is the most convenient route.
