Band 6+: Some people think that universities should teach only academic subjects, while others believe that practical skills are more important. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Some people argue that schools should teach subjects like math and science because they help students get good jobs. Others argue that practical skills like cooking and money management are useful in daily life. In my opinion, both are important, but schools should focus on practical skills.

Academic subjects like math, science, and literature are essential because they help students get into prestigious universities and to get find well-paid job. For example, to become a doctor, a student must study biology and chemistry in school. Without this knowledge, they cannot take part in medical school. This shows that academic subjects provide the foundation for many professional careers, making them important in education.

Practical skills like money management and communication are important because they help students in real life. For instance, if students learn how to budget their money, they will think about how to deal with debt in adulthood. This shows that practical skills prepare students for everyday challenges, making life easier and more successful.

In conclusion, academic subjects help students to enter university and professional careers, while practical skills prepare them for real-life challenges. Although both are important, I believe schools should focus more on practical skills because they are useful for everyday life.
