There is a debate among people whether art and culture should be supported by government funding or not. This essays believe that art and culture should be supported financially by the government so that it would not become extinct in the coming years.
The idea of not allocating any national budget in art and culture come because there are many sector that need urgent attention rather than art and culture, such as education and poverty. Although every sector is important and need government attention, education and poverty is always become a high priority over the years. It is because policy that addressed to education and poverty entangle much more people than the one in art and culture. For instance, a subvention in education can help many penniless children to attend a school until they reach a certain proficiency level or a job vacancy can help unemployed people to get a job so that the poverty level decreasing.
On the other hand, supporting art and culture financially also have a beneficial result for the next generation. The amount of budget that was allocated in art and culture may be not as much as it allocated in education or poverty. However, diminishing the financial support will lead to social destabilization in some regions. People will not want to conserve their own and unique art and culture for the next generation since there is no government funding or something similar and that may lead to the extinction of a certain art and culture. For example, some cultural site that dated centuries ago may deteriorate due to an old age if there is no financial support to conserve and protect them.
