There is a growing debate about whether the money spent on developing the technology for space exploration is a waste or not.
On the one hand modern society should understand that exploration of space opens many doors to a different outcome for the future; however, we obviously do not know whether it will bring us advantages, new technologies, help us understand the past or predict the future, or lead to the development of the Earth. Or maybe it is going to give us answers that will lead us to something that we are not ready to experience. We will never know, but living in the 21st century obligates us to open new parts of the world to keep consistently growing. Humans are the ones who always need to move forward; it is our destiny, from my point of view.
On the other hand, it is totally understandable and clear that there are many other ways to spend money more fairly. Why would we think about space exploration and concerns beyond our planet if we have wars, starving people, homeless people, and an ocean full of garbage? Maybe we should start with the problems here – among us – and as soon as they are solved, we can invest funds for space problems.
Meanwhile, what if our earth problems will never be solved? Nowadays, time demands changes and constant growth; however, the human issues will remain the same, or there are just going to be other ones.
To conclude, both opinions are valid and do make sense. But from my personal point of view, I would prefer to work on the future of the whole humanity and next generations, because it is possible that space can give us something special we always wanted but didn’t know existed.
