It is often argued in modern society that work plays a crucial role in a person’s life. I partly disagree with the statement, that life is meaningless without a career, even when it is a source of stability and income, because in our life exist equally important aspects.
One major reason why work is important is that for a huge number of people a career provides financial stability, social position and personal fulfilment. Job satisfaction allows people to develop their skills, feels usefulness for society and achieves personal goals. For instance, a doctor, who satisfies a job, could provide a positive impact on society through helping others and, as result, feeling the meaning of life. At the same time, without professional activity, individuals often feel insecure and lost.
However, it would be a mistake to consider that a job is the most important thing for people. Numerous people find importance in a family relationship, friendship, hobbies or inner harmony. A good illustration of this is members of society, such as parents or grandparents, who even without a prestigious job feel satisfied and the importance of their life by carrying about others. Furthermore, overconcentration can increase the level of stress, cause burnout and health-related problems, which proves the need for balance between work and personal life.
In conclusion, while work plays a crucial role in human life and provides stability and self-realization, it is not the only source of meaning. A meaningful life is based on balance between professional activity and other aspects, such as family, personal well-being and inner values.
