With the advancement in vehicle industry, air pollution has become a major concern in most cities. While some people believe that increasing the cost of fuel is the best way to solve the issue of air pollution, others argue that different measures should be taken. I personally believe that taking different measures can contribute to a better solution than increasing the fuel price.
On the one hand, increasing the cost of fuel can help regulate the air pollution in cities upto an extent. By increasing the fuel price, people might avoid taking their vehicles out for commuting. As a result, they try to save their money by travelling through public transport. This leads to a lesser amount of air pollution in cities. However, increased fuel costs may affect the vehicle industries. Some companies may stop producing performance vehicles which has a detrimental effect on the development of high-end performance cars and bikes.
On the other hand, various measures like conducting awareness programs can be taken in order to reduce air pollution in cities. By means of these programs, public will be aware of the pollution and try to regulate it. Through these awareness programs, government can teach people the effective ways to reduce the air pollution. For instance, people can be taught that using bicycles for short rides will drastically lower the pollution due to less emissions from reduced number of motor vehicles. Moreover, social media can be used by the governments to create videos which will bring awareness in the society. As a result, better air quality can be maintained in cities which will improve the health of people.
In conclusion, although increased fuel price may cause people to avoid the usage of personal vehicles and reduce the air pollution, it has a detrimental effect on vehicle industry. Therefore, I strongly believe that taking some effective steps like conducting awareness programs and creating social media videos can be the best way to control air pollution in cities.
