Opinions are divided on whether hosting an international sports event is unbeneficial for a country or whether this will bring positive impacts for the nation. Although I may acknowledge the logic behind the former view, I am still in favour of the latter.
Those individuals who oppose that a country will benefit from holding a sports event might have some arguments. One of the possible reasons is that they believed that creating a worldwide event is such a waste of money. International sports events require many investments ,such as paying for quality facilities, decorations as well as marketing fees, to create a successful and well-organised event. However, we can not have an accurate prediction if the event will be successful or not if the government or organisations invest money in. Therefore, some people believe that this is risky and will lead to many consequences like the downfall of the country’s economy or just a waste of money.
Nevertheless, I still think that this activity will bring many significant positive impacts on a country for they could boost their economy. First of all, a well-organised international sports event could help the country boost their tourism and contribute to the economy. Visitors from around the world will travel to that country to attend the occasions and travellers will not only attend the event but also spend money on other activities. The country will not make profits from only selling event tickets but also gain the money from entertaining activities, tourist attractions and other things. For example, the UK, gains money from selling the Premier League football tickets daily and these audiences also spend money on different activities and needs. This actually contributes a big part in their national income.
In conclusion, some people might think that hosting a sports event will not bring any positive effects on a country since this was such a waste of money and risky. The reality shows that sports events do require much investment but it is worth it. International sports events will help the nation gain profits, thereby boosting the economy.
