Today, people believe that climate change is an increasingly urgent problem that takes a heavy toll on enterprises. Meanwhile, some disagree, indicating that this global crisis in fact offers huge opportunities for companies. This essay aims to examine both views before arguing in favour of a positive phenomenon.
On the one hand, it is acknowledgable that climate change has severe impacts on enterprises, especially regarding its extreme effects on the environment. This can be observed in recent years when extreme weather conditions occur much more frequently compared to the past, resulting in unpredictable alterations in the atmosphere. Meanwhile small agricultural businesses appear to be insufficient in adapting to these radical changes, therefore experiencing continuous crop failures that subsequently force them to close down their companies. Besides, as the impacts of climate change have been increasingly disastrous, several strict policies are implemented, emphasizing the necessities to obey manufacturing qualities including reduced carbon emission and strict waste management. However, such requirements demand cutting-edge technologies that are apparently unaffordable by all enterprises, leaving enormous financial burdens on these businesses.
On the other hand, this global crises possibly offers pretigious business opportunities. These advantages are driven by public increasing awareness in protecting the environment, which means people are more likely to opt for sustainable consumption. This leads to the soaring demands for environmentally friendly products namely paper straws, electricity-based cars and many others, creating huge opportunities for companies in these markets. Moreover, this awareness also result in people’s preferences for environmentally friendly brands, offering great opportunities for businesses’ promotion. For instance, Starbucks has currently promoting a campaign of providing discounts for consumers when they use the brand’s specially designed cups. By pursuading their clients using environmentally friendly incentives, Starbucks has attracted huge increase in the number of loyal customers while creating a positive impression among the public.
From my perspective, while some negative impacts are notable, the advantages of climate change on businesses apparently outweigh its disadvantages. Not only does it offer relevant chances for businesses with sufficient responsible to develop, climate change also facilitates enterprises that are able to foster well-oriented marketing strategies to grow and gain further success, contributing to the universal economy.
In short, while some believe climate change negatively affects businesses, many argue that its benefits are much more considerable. Given these relevant reasons, I strongly believe that climate change plays a pivotal role in fostering sustainable developments that are vital for businesses in the long-term.
