It is well known that people should switch up their job occasionally while there is also a persuasive argument that it is better not to do it. In my opinion, we should take a little bit of this and a little bit of that.
On the one hand, some people believe that not changing job will aid you in nurturing more soft skills and better bond with your co-workers and manager, because you will be staying longer and get to know more about the job, the people and the environments there which effectively creating a suitable environment for developing ourself and our relationships. For example staying longer will give you a lot of opportunities to learn about others and their mistakes to avoid the same thing happening to yourself. Additionally, staying in a job will give you a higher opportunity to be promoted. This is because you improve your skills and show everyone that you are worthy enough to get a promotion. For instance, if you work really hard and long enough to catch the attention of the higher-ups you will potentially boost your image and therefore have a higher chance of being promoted to a higher position in the company. However, the job you choose to stay can be very tiring and not enjoyable for you and this affects your mentality because you no longer feel happy doing that job but still choose to do it therefore affecting your productivity.
On the other hand, to others’ belief that switching jobs after some years of working gives you a lot of experience. This is because you are constantly switching jobs over and over to find a suitable job, creating a loop that you will learn to do multiple things in the process until you find a job that fits your favour. In fact, switching jobs simultaneously can contribute to a better overall profile which can help you find a job easier because you can do many tasks. In addition, switching jobs can actually be better than staying in one place for a long time. This is because when you no longer seek any sense of joy in the job you are doing, quitting will be a viable option that can actually aid you with your mentality. As a matter of fact, the main main reason that teenagers these days change their job very often, their jobs seem to be not fitting for them so they quit to find a new purpose that can actually bring joy to them. Nevertheless, the drawbacks are also noticeable, one of them is the fact that you will have an unsustainable source of income making some problems tougher than it was before such as running out of money.
With all that being said, I believe a hybrid between the two options will be better. We should switch jobs for the purpose of searching for a balance between money and joy, however we should at least stay long enough until we get our salary. This harmonized option can even complement each other’s disadvantages.
Overall, I believe a hybrid solution should be able to compliment the two arguments’s flaws and we should try to seek a balance for ourselves instead of focusing solely on one thing and leaving the other.
