The argument over who should clean up environmental pollution is a controversial one, with some insisting that the private industries should pay for pollution, while others argue that it is the government’s responsibility. In this essay, I will be looking at both viewpoints but will argue that companies should pay for the mess they cause to the atmosphere.
Many people are of the opinion that waste disposal and environment cleaning should be part of the national budget because companies pay heavy taxes to the government. Another reason for this point of view is based on the idea that some of the waste released by some companies could be used for the production of domestic gas, which can be profitable for the government. The issue with these facts is that not all nations have the capability of transforming garbage into cooking gas and not all companies pay their taxes.
An alternative point of view is that the responsibilities should lie with the companies polluting the environment because most government do not clean up the mess on time, giving room for the accumulation of toxic gases like carbon dioxide in the atmosphere which can destroy the ozone layer and thus exposing citizens to cancers. If heavy taxes are levied on these companies, some may reduce the amount of toxic gases released in to the surroundings.
For these reasons, I believe that if private industries pay for the damage they cause to the environment, the level of pollution could be reduced because not all companies may have the money which is often too much.
