Few nations are finding it hard to combat the growth in crime rates. while, some nations believe that having more Law Enforcement Officers on the streets is an excellent way of combating and reducing the crime. I completely agree with the statement due to two reasons.
The first reason being that the Officer presence can de-escalate the situation before it reaches a critical point or further escalates, as the person’s intent to commit a crime reduces almost by half due to the fear of getting caught and legal charges. Example – I work as a Security Supervisor at the hospital, and I have noticed that the presence certainly reduces violent patient’s agitation, aggressive behavior, due to the fear of getting denied Healthcare or being asked to leave the premises.
Secondly, having more police on the street alone would not help, the Government should impose strict rules and measurements to make sure that people hesitate twice before considering crime. Saudi Arabia’s Government has severe rules when it comes to crimes and safety of it’s citizens. Example – if a person gets caught while stealing stuff from a shop or from any other place, the criminal will be presented in front of all the local people, his crime will be announced and his hands will be cut-off in front of everyone.
In conclusion, more Law Forces can definitely reduce and combat crime rate, but the best way in my opinion would be if the Government can team-up and impose strict rules for crimes and criminals then we an see a drastic decrease in the criminal activity very soon easily.
