Nowadays the whole world is concerned about the climate change and different ecological problems in general. Due to this fact some people tend to believe that it is the government that should be responsible for these issues, however, there is an opposite opinion that it is each person who has to look after the environment. In my opinion, the protection of environment is the result of cooperation between both individuals and government since people have a moral and ethical duty to future generation, while the government has a great amount of power and resources.
On the one hand, each person enjoys the benefits of the planet and should comprehend that the life of descendants fully depends on present actions. It is because people consume different resources of the earth, which eventually can be depleted and their stocks are just impossible to replenish. Therefore, if every individual used these resources in moderation or replaced them with something less detrimental, the planet would remain a safe place with good environment. For example, in Kazakhstan some people have solar panels at homes, which they bought themselves, and these panels help to consume less electricity thereby preserving it and not polluting the environment. So, in such simple actions people could contribute to the conserving of environment saving it for future generations.
On the other hand, some individuals may lack such opportunities, and this is the case where government can participate in protecting the environment due to sufficient resources and power. The government’s role can manifest in various ways such as implementing strict regulations, funding sustainable initiatives, and raising public awareness. For instance, in order to protect the national heritage Issyk-kul Lake, the government of Kyrgyz Republic put forward the law that prohibits the use of plastic bags in cities near this lake, therefore, they reduced the plastic pollution. In this way, the authority of government can be really influential as people realize the consequences of breaking the law.
In conclusion, I believe that the environment should be protected by each individual due to recognizing the fact of being responsible to descendants as well as by government as it has necessary resources and power to implement needed actions.
