Band 5+: Students are becoming more and more reliant on the Internet. While the Internet is convenient, it has many negative effects and its use for educational purposes should be restricted

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Nowadays, the internet has become a very important aspect for our daily routine life in the current modern era. Students these days are also very dependent more and more on the internet. In my opinion, I agree with the statement that internet usage should be restricted especially in the school setting and could also impact negatively to the student.

Firstly, the internet has led the students to not be able to tackle a problem by themselves, even the easiest one. When they have to overcome a problem, they were more inclined going towards the internet instead of thinking a solution. For example, due to the trend of AI in helping with works, students would prefer to just get their answer by asking AI, without knowing it’s clarity behind the answer. If they completely rely on AI, their brain capacity will potentially decrease in terms of thinking logically or coherently.

Therefore, a solution must be pointed out to prevent this. Educational environment such as the school, universities, or any other should encourage students by not using any external help to finish their work. In elementary or lower secondary grades, teachers have to play the crucial role by collecting their phones or gadget that may hinder the process of learning itself. It may seem to be a little harsh, but if the teacher decides not to collect their phones, they can guide through the students on how to use the internet correctly to achieve what the teacher wants.

In conclusion, I agree that the internet should be restricted to protect students from receiving unreliable answers from the internet. Moreover, the educational space should encourage the students themselves to limit their use of internet or even better create an accompanied use of internet.
