Band 5+: Students are becoming more and more reliant on the Internet. While the Internet is convenient, it has many negative effects and its use for educational purposes should be restricted

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Nowadays, students are heavily dependent on the convenience of the internet. People have conflicting views whether internet usage has a negative effect and that it should be banned for its educational purposes. In my opinion, using internet for learning has more positive effects than its counterpart.

In one way, internet provides flexibility and cost-effectiveness. In particular, distance learning is a major development in the world of internet. Students can study, prepare, and finish homework and term papers, submit early online before deadline while at home. Even when student is sick and contagious, he can still attend online class. Online learning is effective as well on spending less in tuition and other administrative fees. Now, taking courses online are a lot cheaper than in-class courses because air-conditioning rooms, boards, and projectors are not necessary to teach students over the net. On the other hand, some downsides of online learning are teachers cannot see if students lose interest during class, sleepy, tired or sometimes miss checking their participants playing on their phones while in class.

Next, internet provides quick access to information. For example, students can search up information they need right at their fingertips compared to carrying heavy books or going to library to do their assignments. While having wide range of access on courses, the negative impacts of using internet are isolation, lack of face-to-face interaction, lack of focus, distraction at home, poor connectivity or technical problems.

In conclusion, internet or online class is beneficial and convenient for the learners to some extent as internet technology provides flexibility, cost-effectiveness, and easy access to information. The only drawbacks I acknowledge are just minors but the long-term benefits of it is immeasurable to all learners.
