Student in today’s world tend to study for a reward rather than getting punished is what I agree. Generally many teachers in Asia develop a habit of giving punishment to the students and expect a positive outcome, but indeed we all know that each person is different from one another.
Though a child could not ace an exam, but the fact that their teacher knew about the student that they performed better deserves an appreciation or a reward which makes us human being brains to release a chemical called dopamine which is responsive for our happy feelings. Triggering this by a reward when performed better than what the child was yesterday does make the person want to achieve the pleasure again in a positive way, unlike giving punishments that only scares us off. Also by this we provoke the competitive mindset of the young’s to get that piece of cake, a healthy race . In general no person likes to get punished, so if the student is made to be punished for a negative result they are going to lack motivation to reach their best performance.
The motive in the education system is to learn and score better than what the student was last day. At one stage if a scholar is only getting punished they are not gonna go beyond the circle of punishment and the feeling of demotivation that is only goin to cause a negative effect on the scholar.
Henceforth The teacher or the child’s parent should spark them up with gifts or a reward for giving in their best to achieve the result.
