Band 5+: Students should be primarily taught academic subjects so that they can pass exams, and practical skills such as cooking should not be taught.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Some people believe that to pass examinations, students mainly study academic subjects while others think that hands-on skills like cooking ought not to learn. From my perspective, learning functional skills can be helpful in later life, which the parents die or go to study abroad.

On one side of the argument, it is argued that to pass tests, school’s subjects function as main role. The most compelling reason for believing this is that children educate academic subjects such as mother tongue language or mathematics to get over exam, and some students take tuition where they pay fees to learn subjects in outside. For example, In China, daily routine of the majority of 13-16-year-olds students go to school in the morning, and turning back home in evening. For this reason, they pass examinations with high marks than others who doesn’t want to study. Although academic subjects play important role in youth life, I believe that realistic skills can be more vital position in whole life.

On the others hand, functional skills can be considered mainly use for everyone to adapt in every situation. One reason for this is that hands-on skills help the people who away from home to live in there without specific difficult. For instance, 18-20-year-olds people who go to work or study in Japan, they live alone or with roommate to do daily tasks any difficult. I believe that learning functional skills enhance our ability in a daily routine.

In conclusion, although studying school’s subjects can be beneficial in some cases, I believe that hands-on skills function as key in the whole life.
