In the contemporary world, it is undeniable that governments should focus more on addressing environmental challenges and housing issues for their residents to mitigate different illnesses and diseases. While tackling these problems can promote health and sustainable living conditions, I argue that there are other priorities such as public awareness and access to healthcare facilities instead of solely concentrating on environment and housing.

On the one hand, environmental pollution and housing issues have significantly contributed to the deterioration of public health. To commence with, due to the industrial activities and urbanization process, a large amount of pollutants and toxic chemicals is released into the atmosphere. This can lead to numerous severe health conditions such as respiratory problems or cardiovascular diseases. As an illustration, according to WHO, it was estimated that about 12,6 million people correlating with several ailments died in 2012 due to excessive exposure to polluted air. This highlights the importance of maintaining a healthy environment to promote public wellness. Additionally, housing problems, including overcrowding and insufficient housing schemes, can result in the rapid spread of communicable diseases. Low-income individuals may reside in substandard conditions and they may face severe challenges such as lack of safe drinking water, ineffective waste disposal or intrusion by disease vectors. This, in turn, leads to the deterioration of their health conditions . Therefore, the government should take initiatives to alleviate housing problems.

On the other hand, the government may put more emphasis on other priorities instead of simply focusing on environmental and housing complications. To begin with, it is imperative that the government can promote healthy dietary habits. Due to hectic schedules and work stress, a large number of individuals are heavily reliant on fast food. This can result in chronic diseases such as diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. Thus, the authorities may launch several educational programs or campaigns to enrich the population’s knowledge about health and prompt them to more active lifestyles. Consequently, people can make informed choices regarding their health, which can lower disease-related mortality rates. Furthermore, it is important to address inaccessibility to healthcare services. Numerous impoverished individuals face barriers in financial and geographical strains, which is challenging for them to have access to healthcare facilities. Therefore, there is a need for the government to prioritize healthcare infrastructure expansion and implement policies to remove financial barriers for the disadvantaged to address underlying health disparities and promote overall public health.

In conclusion, it is pivotal for governments to come up with initiatives to tackle obstacles posed by pollution and housing inefficiency in order to improve the population’s health. However, I am inclined that raising public awareness and removing inaccessibility to health centers play an indispensable role.
