Nowadays, in many part of the world, younger generations do no communicative with older generations as often as they used to. While this can be attributed to technology and social media and different lifestyles and interests.
One of the main reasons for this drop in interaction is rapid social media. Young people spent a lot of time on smartphones and social media such as Instagram or Whats App. Instead of talking to older family members, they communicate with friends online. As a result, interaction between generations has decreased. For instance, a teenager may spend hours on social media after school rather than talking to grandparents. In addition, older and younger individuals often have different hobbies, opinions and ways of thinking. This generation gap can make communication more difficult. Therefore, they spend less time together.
Another contributing factor is the increasing independence of young. However, there are number of ways by which this issue can be resolved. One effective measure would be organizing activities involving both age groups. Schools and communities can arrange events where young and old people participate together. This helps them understand each other better. For example, community projects, sports, events or cultural activities can bring different generations together. Another solution, one that further strengthens the first one is encouraging family interaction. Parents should encourage children to spend more time with grandparents and eldery relatives. Regular family gathering can strengthen relationships. For example, families could have weekly meals or activities where all generations spend time together.
To conclude, the decline in interaction between younger and older people are largely caused by the improving use of technology. However, this problem can be addressed by encouraging family communication and organizing some kind of activities that bring individuals of different ages together.
