As a dedicated community volunteer and advocate for social change in East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia, I believe in the power of individuals to shape their communities. Hailing from Atambua City, a frontier city between Indonesia and Timor Leste, I faced significant challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021. Many families lost their livelihoods, while limited healthcare and misinformation hindered access to essential services, underscoring the urgent need for civic engagement in underserved areas.
Building on my work with Generasi Bebas COVID-19, I have engaged in community-building activities focused on empowering underrepresented groups and fostering civic responsibility. I joined the Generasi Literasi initiative with Indorelawan to improve literacy rates among children. We mapped literacy issues, organized donation drives, and provided books to public libraries. A highlight was a one-day event in Malaka Regency featuring fun-learning activities, book donations, and self-care classes for teenage girls. Additionally, I collaborated with Berburu Beasiswa ala Foundation to help disadvantaged students access educational opportunities. These experiences have sharpened my leadership skills and deepened my commitment to civic engagement, making me believe that the YSEALI Civic Engagement Fellowship would provide the perfect platform to enhance my ability to lead meaningful change.
My leadership experience, combined with a keen understanding of socio-economic challenges in East Nusa Tenggara, makes me a strong candidate for the YSEALI Civic Engagement Fellowship. Through initiatives like LeadersHub NTT and my volunteer work with Berburu Beasiswa, I have developed project management and community outreach skills that are crucial for addressing local issues such as low literacy and youth engagement. I aim to learn advanced strategies in grassroots activism and media literacy during the fellowship, enabling me to combat misinformation effectively and engage more young leaders in civic activities.
The YSEALI Civic Engagement Fellowship offers a transformative opportunity to advance my commitment to sustainable change in East Nusa Tenggara. I am eager to collaborate with passionate young leaders and gain new skills that will empower local youth and advocate for marginalized communities. Through this fellowship, I envision creating a ripple effect of positive change, equipping my community with the tools needed for lasting impact
