Band 6+: The consumption of the world's resources (oil, water, etc.) is increasing at a dangerous rate. What are the causes and solutions?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

It is true that natural resources are being depleted severely in a strikingly alarming rate. There are numerous reasons behind this phenomenon and several solutions could be adopted to solve the problem.

There are variety of reasons why the world’s resources are being over-exploited. One of the main causes of this problem is the increasing number of private cars each year, moreover; the ownership of a private vehicle is considered to be more efficient than any other method of transportation leading to a sky-rocketing demands on petrol/oil. Another factor is the excessive amount of electricity consumption. The reason why is that the living standards, especially around the urban areas, rely heavily on high-performing technologies that often require a large amount of energy.

In order to tackle this issue effectively, there certainly are various measures that the government can take. Clearly, the first method is to invest a good chunk of money in promoting the utility of public transportation in conjunction with establishing more public transport stations all over the country, even in extremely rural areas that are usually far from reach. Secondly, prioritizing the construction of sustainable energy sources, for instance; windmills, solar panels and hydroelectric that generate electricity could be one of the many steps that the people of authority can take. Furthermore, the encouragement of those action would not only reduce the consumption of natural source but would also be beneficial for the environment for many years to come.

In conclusion, there certainly are a good number of causes resulting in the over-consumption of world’s natural sources such as private vehicles and advancing technology, however; with the right approach that is based mainly on sustainability it might be possible to reverse the damage.
