The maps illustrate some proposed changes to the central library’s floor plan after 20 years.
It can be easily noticed that the principal changes to the library occurred in the middle area of the library. On top of that, many rooms relocated and changed their purpose.
Entering a library as it is now, on the left one can see a computer room, on the right a cafe. Comparing with 20 years ago floor plan, one can notice that the place of a door and purpose of left room door has changed. Moreover, 20 years ago, on the right of entrance was an enquiry desk, where one could find tickets, returned books and so on and so forth. On the first map, at the middle of a map on would find tables with chairs, the were removed from location. Nowadays, a center of a library is empty. If you turn left one will find all book’s references, turning right one can find some information about adult fiction books and self-service machines. In the past, left and right middle sides were divided in two groups, former was for adult fiction books, latter was for adult non-fiction books.
The last noticeable changes happened with last two rooms. First of all, the left room become larger – if in the past this room was dedicated to computers, CDs and gadgets, now one can find there children’s fiction books and two sofas. The right room did not change in it sizes, but in the past there was a storage for children books; nowadays lectures are held there.
