The table chart given illustrates the percentages of students who took part in Four Secondary School Types from 2000 to 2009.
From an overall perspective, the amount of school children attended for Community schools showed an upward trend while the reverse patterns present for the remaining schools.
In 2000, the percentage of pupils participating in Voluntary-controlled Schools was highest at precisely 52%. The figure for Grammar Schools was lower at 24%, whereas Specialist Schools and Community Schools accounted for the lowest at just 12%.
The period between 2000 to 2009 witnessed a sharp rise in the proportion of school childs attending in Community Schools from 12% to 58%. However, there was a sudden decrease in the percentage of beginning learners enrolling in Voluntary-controlled Schools to just over 20% in the same year. Furthermore, the proportion of children’s attendance at Grammar schools was halved to a low at 12%, whereas the data on Specialist Schools was at the bottom of the list.
