The bar graph illustrates a comparison of the quantity of films which were rented and sold (in different formats) annually in a certain shop from 2002 to 2011.
Overall, the DVD was the highest selling product in the store. Additionally, as it can be seen renting films was considerably common at the beginning of the period.
In the initial year, hiring movies was the most popular, whereas selling VHS was not as in high demand as renting discs, with just above 180,000 number of rentals compared to well over 80,000 number of sales. However, both figures lost their requirement each year over the period in question. By 2006, sales of the latter had ceased, while inquiry for the former was still markedly high, amounting to exactly 140,000 number of rentals. Next, enquiry for the former continues to fall, totalling to just below 60,000 number of rentals in 2011.
In contrast, DVD discs sales composed slightly less than 50,000 in 2002. Then, it increased until 2007, comprising more than 210,000 sales, which was the highest level among all figures over the period in question. Afterwards, it declined until the end of the research years, making up roughly 180,000 sales. Regarding Blu-ray discs, it was started selling since 2007, constituting approximately 1,000 sales. Subsequently, it expanded until the end, reaching a little more than 10,000 in 2011.
