Technology is simply a machine developed from the application of scientific knowledge to help produce goods and help human beings solve their problems. The influence of technology is immeasurable and, in my opinion, mostly for the better, but it is crucial to acknowledge that it is not all sunshine and rainbows.
On the one hand, technology’s primary benefit is the enhancement of communication. Therefore, the advent of the internet and smartphones has made it easier for individuals to connect globally, fostering collaboration and exchange of ideas. For instance, today, individuals can get in touch whenever and wherever they want, using WhatsApp and Facetime and even playing games such as Pubg and Fortnite. Furthermore, technology has revolutionized industries, leading to efficiency and productivity. Consequently, this empowerment allows people to be accessible and work effectively without having to work hard.
On the other hand, excessive use of technology can lead to considerable problems in many areas, especially among teenagers. Utilization of technology has been linked to issues such as social isolation, no physical activity, sleep deprivation and mental health care problems. For example, students do not want to play sports because technology does not allow them because they become lazy, and this all leads to obesity and terrible diseases. Moreover, it has become easy to attack people using digital technology to steal personal information and accounts. As a result, technology may turn young teenagers’ lives upside down in a significantly lousy way that will then be impossible to correct.
In conclusion, technology is a double-edged sword; its impact is shaped by our choices and actions. It can be a tool for us to craft the life we desire, enhancing our efficiency and connectivity. Yet, if we allow it to dominate our lives, it has the potential to disrupt and even destroy. The key lies in our ability to strike a balance and harness its benefits while mitigating its drawbacks.
