This can lead to deforestation from destroying more forest areas to replace with residential homes and infrastructures, making a loss of biodiversity. Moreover, due to the loss of a large amount of trees that absorb carbon dioxide, a major greenhouse gas, which contributes to climate change. Secondly, population explosion can increase poverty. The more people there are, the more pressure on resource production. As demand outstrips supply, the prices rise, making it difficult for the people to afford basic necessities. In addition, it can lead to social inequality because of the unevenly distributed resources. The wealthy and powerful may have better access to resources, while the poor may be left behind.
