Band 5+: The US film industry has too much influence on the film industry around the world. Governments have a duty to invest money in their own film industries to protect and develop their cultures. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Since the foundation of Hollywood, USA is influencing the film industry with their innovations and well written scenerios. However, in many historical or warfare themed movies the culture and the environment of eastern countries are giving the viewer wrong impression due to showing eastern people and environment as barbaric and underdeveloped. I’m totally against the idea of such misleading movies and this should be stopped by the culture organizations of the governments by filming such historical movies with their industries.

First of all, the modern worlds strongest influence over people is given by the internationally successful movies. Such movies are creating an subconsionce opinion of the subject of the movie. For example, the historical movies about the second world war is mostly produced in US and while the movies are mostly focuses on the evil that time of Germany done, two atomic bombs used on Japanese people is mostly ignored. Because of this many people are not having a decent opinion or knowledge about the suffering of that times Japanese people.

On the other hand, starting a movie industry is expensive and takes long time and many productions to start producing well designed movies. For example, after a couple of years of the foundation of Hollywood, India has been created Bollywood to show their true culture internationally. But even today the quality gap between Hollywood and Bollywood is not closed and many people prefer to watch Hollywood movies over Bollywood.

Overall, even if the governments don’t start their film industry is not good as US movie industry, they should start to create their movies to protect their culture. If they don’t choose to start it, they could have rules about movies.
