Band 6+: the use of gamification in language learning is beneficial. Do you agree or disagree?

Gamification is a type of teaching lessons to the students in an interesting way or motivating children by using game-like elements, such as points, rewards, and challenges to enhance engagements at the lesson time. Recently, this method has gained large popularity in education, especially in learning language. I strongly believe that gamification is so beneficial because it improves students’ motivation and the quality of lessons, both of which are crucial for students.

The first reason why gamification is advantegous is that its amazing effects on enhancing students’ motivation and capturing their attention to the lesson. Standard language learning methods, like memorizing vocabulary or grammar rules, can be tiring and cause losing their interests. But, gamification makes the learning environment more enjoyable by giving the chance of gaining rewards, such as badges or some gifts to the students, for completing tasks. The sense of accomplishment stimulates students to stay engaged and passionate.

Additionally, gamification provides consistent practice, which is vital for language learners. Language learning demands frequent revision and supplementation. These types of platforms aid students to foster durable learning habits by utilizing features, such as streak, progress tracking, and reminders. For example, there are some language learning applications which reward learners for practicing daily, make students maintain regular practice, finally improve their ability of language and fluency.

In conclusion, I strongly believe that gamification provides students with undeniable benefits of language learning. It boosts motivation by making the learning environment more enjoyable and interesting, and it can also create consistency. With these advantages, gamified platforms can build up a better learning process and making it more effective for students at all levels.
