Band 9: There are many animal species close to extinction. Some say that only animals that are beneficial to people should be protected. Do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Some people argue that only animal species that are useful to humans should be protected from extinction. I strongly disagree with this view. Humans have a responsibility to protect all endangered species, not just those considered beneficial, especially because human activities are the main reason many of them are at risk. Furthermore, every species plays a crucial role in maintaining the balance of nature, and losing even one could disrupt entire ecosystems.

First of all, many animal species are at risk of extinction primarily because of human activities. Expanding cities, deforestation, and agricultural development have destroyed natural habitats, leaving many animals without food or shelter. As a result, these species are now endangered. Since humans are largely responsible for this situation, we have a moral obligation to take action and do everything possible to protect and preserve these animals.

In addition, every animal plays a specific role in its ecosystem, and removing even one species can disrupt the natural balance. Many species are part of a complex food chain, where the survival of one depends on another. For example, if a prey species becomes extinct, its predators may also struggle to survive due to the lack of food. This kind of chain reaction can harm entire ecosystems. Therefore, it is essential to protect all species to maintain ecological stability.

In conclusion, although some people believe that only useful animals should be protected, I believe all endangered species deserve our attention and efforts. Protecting them is not only a human responsibility due to our role in their endangerment, but it is also necessary to preserve the balance of nature for future generations.
