Band 4+: There is a lot of pressure on young people today to succeed academically. As a result, some people believe that non-academic subjects, such as physical education and cookery, should be removed from the school syllabus so that children can concentrate on academic work.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Nowadays many teenagers are coerced to fully succeed in academic instead choose what they like. Success has various meaning and, academic is not the only way. I believe removing non-academic subjects would not made children more focus on academic work.

First, everyone has different opinion on what “success” mean. It can be success academically or non-academic. World can not decide success academically is the only way. For instance, my parents did not force all of their child to succeed in academic way, we are allowed to express, try, and find out where is our passion, hence success can mean, be the greatest singer, or talented actor.

Second, there are children who are smarter in non-academic subject than academic. Originally, most of those kids was brought their parents’ gen whose more into non-academic. They can hardly solve a easy math question, but easily make a detailed painting. For instance, my younger sister, she is more into non-academic subjects, such as, cooking, painting, baking, or play any instruments whereas when i asked her to solve a science question she can not answer it. There are more proof than just my sisters out there,

In conclusion, i strongly disagree on removing non-academic subjects. Looking to the society, there are various kids with different abilities and perhaps they dont always capable on solving academic work. By removing non-academic subjects means preventing those kids to grow what they want to be in the future, limiting their interaction on what they should have been, and world definitely doesn’t only need academic kids.
