As students are currently facing huge emphasis on formal educational success, some individuals think that informal subjects, like physical education and cookery, should be expunged from academic syllabus in order to get sole time for educational activities. This essay comprehensively disagrees with this assertion that the removal of informal subjects from educational syllabus will enable young generation to concentrate more on formal education. Enhancing team building capacity, along with developing life skill, is the key contributing factors towards maintaining extra-curricular activities with formal curriculum altogether.
Now, there are many rationales which drive a group of people including me against this proposition. At the outset, extra-curricular activities play a pivotal role in improving team spirit among the students that will assist them working together in their foreseeable future. For instance, young generation can learn to sort out difficulties by sharing views or exploring solutions among the team members. So, non-academic learning is the upholding capacity to utilize academic understanding of individuals within the group.
Besides, another influential factor is the accomplishment of life skills. These skills enhance individual’s special quality and supportive attitude for the surroundings. It can be exemplified by the fact that adeptness in cookery of a child would be helpful for parents. It can ensure some relief for homemaker. For continuing academic excellence, supportive attitude to other mates is quite important, virtue acquired by out of cocurricular aptitude.
In essence, it can be argued that removal of non-academic subjects is not viable for preparing future generations with the development of team spirit and life skills, rather extra-curriculum should be continued alongside with formal curricular system for building them allrounder in every aspect of life.
