There are a lot of demands and expectations for young people in regards to their academic success, which builds a lot of tension for many pupils. Some think that, the solution for this is to remove more creative and active subjects such as physical education and cookery, I believe that, the main problem regarding to this decision is that by doing that, we are stealing from students and schoolers the choice to study things that they love, and in doing so, stealing their chance of developing in the field they are passionate about.
Cookery and physical education may not be the traditional academic subjects, but that does not mean that they holds less value. Studying and developing skills in those subjects can be just as rewarding for some as studying for example – history. There are a lot of young children and teenagers that are just now discovering themselves and testing the waters to see what their real calling is, that reason only is enough not to restrict them from experiencing different things. For example, my partner is a chef and he has been passionate about this matter since he was little. The university he was studying at gave him the needed support that afterwards led to his huge success. In addition, no one should be able to tell someone what to do with their lives and no one should ever have the power to make decisions for you, especially when it comes to such significant subjects like your profession. Each student should be given the same opportunity to study whatever, and in the end choosing the most suitable direction for them.
Pressure learners face in todays society is not something we can ignore, but we have to come with a better way to make their lives easier. Not studying certain subjects just because people think that it is not as productive and fulfilling as others, will be the biggest mistake the mankind has ever made.Learning creative subjects is just as crucial for an individual as well as it is for the collective.
