Nowadays, it is believed that children spend too much time in front of television and this has decreased their study time. In my point of view, although television can be useful, it cannot take the place of books, even if it is educational, so it reduces children’s performance.
Children are more attracted to television because of the visual effects. These visual effects, in which they can see lots of colors, movements and beautiful pictures, can be more motivating too, so they prefer television to reading books which are so static and, in this way, they spend too much on television. For example, when a child watches a nature documentary, they can witness the vibrant colors of a coral reef or the powerful movements of a lion hunting its prey. These experiences are much more engaging than simply reading about them in a book. This causes children spending excessive time watching TV and becoming less educated.
It is true that television has educational programs and can be useful; However, it provides this information in a general and incomplete manner, while books provide this information in an extensive and detailed manner. Therefore, television still wastes children’s time and makes them perform less performance.
In conclusion, Children are drawn to television more because of its visual effects. While television can be beneficial, it can’t substitute for books, even if it’s educational, therefore it lowers children’s performance.
