In the past teaching used to be one of the most popular jobs among young people to pursue. However, the number of people who want to be a teacher has fallen in recent years, especially in secondary schools. While main reasons for this trend are low salary and heavy workload, some actions ,such increasing salaries and reducing tasks and appointing teacher-assistants, can be taken.
There are several factors why people lost passion for teaching and the main one is undesirable income. Governments do not pay much for teachers compared to other job owners, such as doctors and lawyers. As a result most teachers can find it difficult to raise their families and even they cannot afford for trips and entertainment which is the key point for young people to consider before taking a job. In addition, the job is considerably heavy and exhausting. Teachers spend around 8-10 hours at school campus dealing with hundreds of students. Having finished their job, they check student’s homework and take preparations for the next day at home instead of having rest. This in turn might lead to extra stress and dissatisfaction of the job.
Some measurements can be taken to address the problem and the governments are better positioned in it. First of all, state should raise salaries for teaching stuffs in order to cover their necessities as money is a key driver for people to be motivated in what they do. Furthermore, officials in local educations should arrange free-trips and holidays for teachers to get unwind and recharge their batteries. Another solution for attracting more people to teaching is the reduction of hours at workplace because of which most teachers feel deeply depressed that results in leaving the job. Appointing support teachers who assist the head teacher during classwork and also in checking assignments is another way of dealing with the problem.
In conclusion, while there are some drawbacks of leading a career in teaching students, especially at schools, including unsatisfied salary and unbearable workload, governments might mitigate the situation by paying more, arranging fully covered trips and also providing teachers with personal assist
ants.
