Many cities are implying the new restrictions for the private cars and allowing only public vechiles and bicycles in their central districts. Personally, I believe that the benefits of such decisions outweigh the drawbacks, but let us discuss this tendency in more detail.
On the one hand, there are plenty of advantages of smaller number of cars in the central districts. The main one is improvement in public health. As only bicycles and public transports are allowed, people will be more active during the day and they will spend more time on walking. These additional activities will have a beneficial impact on muscles and health in general. For instance, previously individuals chose cars to go to the work, however now with new implementations they will use bicycles, consequently their daily activity will become higher.
On the other hand, there are several disadvantages of using public transport instead of private vehicles. One of the most significant drawbacks is overcrowding. All people who used to own cars, now will change their transport to public. As a result, it may leads to overcrowding and traffic. For example, work usually starts at 9 am, and at the same time millions of people will try to reach their workplaces, and as only public transport is available, the flow of people will be enormous.
In conclusion, while I acknowledge that there are many drawbacks of banning private cars, I believe that the benefits are more crucial.
