In this era of technology, the computer is claimed to become an indispensable part of our daily life due to its huge amount of functionalities. Thus, it isn’t surprising that the use of these devices among kids is increasing significantly these days. In my personal view, this trend tends to bring many unexpected drawbacks for the young generation.
To start with, one of the most obvious disadvantages is that due to this action, health issues could be developed. This is because computers are entertaining and highly addictive, making kids sit in front of them for hours and hours without doing sports activities, which would result in both physical and mental damage. For instance, continuously looking at the screen can spoil their eyesight due to the blue light coming from it. Similarly, obsession with the computer might lead to some symptoms of depression such as emotional instability, sleeplessness.
Another point worth noting is that a rising amount of time spent on computers means less time is devoted to studies. The reason behind this is that teenagers who are addicted to entertainment content on computers often find it difficult to meet the deadlines of their school assignments, leading to a decline in academic results. In contrast, students who are not usually exposed to computers are likely to score higher on regular tests as they would not get distracted by these devices.
To sum up, I firmly believe that the disadvantages of the computer outweigh its advantages for the young. Therefore, it is important to ensure that their use is strictly monitored by parents or guardians.
