The introduction of a novel language is believed to improve international communication, with the benefit of one Lingua franca being learnt and the ease with which tourists can communicate with locals upon traveling. Therefore, I believe the advantages of this proposition outweigh the drawback of learning less about the authentic culture that comes along with one specific language.
The first benefit of developing a specific language to enhance international communication is that individuals would no longer need to learn many different languages. Indeed, in the age where globalization and cultural assimilation are palpable, language boundary has paradoxically become a growing epidemic in which people fail to communicate effectively in different languages. Therefore, if the emergence of a new language were to come into a reality, people, no matter where they found themselves, would feel at ease to learn one language and would have a strong command of that language while learning many languages at once would not be expected to reach the same desired outcomes.
Moreover, considered as a means to an end such as international communication, a shared language allows tourists to immerse themselves in a host country and engage with locals, which means that the adoption of a new language leads to tourism boost, increased economy and positive global image. For instance, while English is now believed to be spoken by most parts of the word, many people still fail to bridge the language gap and use this language in the context of foreign tourism and their own surroundings.
On the other hand, the downside of deriving people from learning the culture that is the backbone of the language should not be overlooked, as effective communication not only necessitates language competence but also cultural intelligence. Thus, in the process of learning a new language, learners simultaneously get deeper insights into the font-stage and back-stage culture that can become obstacles and create an invisible wall in global communication, especially for those ignoring the significance indigenous culture plays in language acquisition.
In conclusion, the benefit of an international language outweighs the disadvantages of learning less about the culture in the company with the language, given that if people embraced one shared language, they would reach a high level of competence of the language more easily and contribute to a more enriched tourism experience.
