Nowadays, joblessness continues to be the main obstacle for school graduates in worldwide. In this essay I am going to write about my opinion on this statement and what other problems face teenagers today.
The primary reason why many school children after graduation cannot find job is the mismatch between their skills and labour market demands. A lot of companies more and more often require technical and digital competencies, however, many schools focus on theoretical knowledge rather than practical skills. For instance, instead of teaching students modern technologies and coding in popular programming languages, they are taught to code in Pascal and Assembler which are now almost never used anywhere. As a result, graduates lack qualification for available jobs, what makes them unemployed.
Furthermore, beyond unemployment, major challenge is the rapidly evolving job market due to automation and Artificial Intelligence. Many traditional jobs are disappearing, requiring young people to continuously upskill, which can be a difficult issue for young folks. In addition, the rising cost of higher education forces many to go into debt even before they start working, which creates long-term financial difficulties.
To sum up, despite the fact that joblessness is a major problem for school leavers, issues such as tuition fees, and skills shortages are no less relevant. Therefore, governments and schools must modernize education and provide support to prepare youth to future. Consequently, only then can young people overcome these obstacles and succeed.
