Some university students believe that they should study about additional subjects apart from their main subjects. Others believe giving attention to studying for a qualification is more important. I partially agree with the statement.
Learning additional subjects apart from main subjects is considered beneficial by many. As the current job market is very competitive, learning additional skills helps indivisual to stand out in the crowd. Also, with the emergence of new technologies and inventions like for example Artificial Intelligence, 5G etc., the job market is rapidly changing. Some universities have very old and outdated syllabus, which forces students to gain additional skills apart from their main subjects. In some cases, to gain more practical knowledge students undergo additional subjects rather than studying only therotical ones present in their main subjects.
On the other hand, giving all time to study main subjects is equally important to gain in-depth knowledge for a qualification. Focussing on additional subject might divert the student’s attention and time to lesser important courses, which might result in lower grades for main subjects. As a result, when the students might apply for job opportunities using their qualification, they might be rejected due to their lower grades. Also, focussing on other subjects apart from the main subjects might increase stress amongst students. This might take a negative toll on student’s life.
In my opinion, studying other subjects in addition to main subjects is important till the time it doen’t hamper the the studies of the main subjects.
