Personally, I completely disagree that the expansion of various types of media has caused cultural codes to fade into the background in comparison to trends’ uprising. I do not see this as a distressing tendency.
In recent years global community has been witnessing an extremely fast-paced development of innovative technologies. Furthermore, we were gifted with social media and a freedom of speech. The Internet is playing a vital role being a uniting place for likeminded people from all over the world. Dwellers are not restricted by the values of their nation anymore.
The main reason I strongly oppose to this shift being a disturbing one is because the majority of transferring beliefs are only creating a friendlier international environment and help us exchange knowledge. I believe that this change has brought about an increasing tolerance level to diverse racial, ethnic and cultural groups. For instance, South Korea has been making a noticeable progress in accepting foreigners to their country and culture, Koreans now better understand, thanks to media, that westerns are not so different from them, and making an acquaintance with one can open their eyes to things they have never thought about before.
The second reason is that people are slowly getting tired of seeing similar patterns of behaviour and values in films, advertisements and fashion shows. Furthermore , there is a growing trend of rising the awareness of both racial and cultural minorities and their traditions. For example, practically every country has a instagram account or youtube channel where they talk about traditional music, art and lifestyle of themselves and their ancestors. So many amateur artists and filmmakers produce content about their ethnicity, also contributing to normalising having different backgrounds and opinions according to what nation you are from.
Even though there are definitely downsides, I focus on positive aspects of every modification. Media in all its forms has been bonding contrasting minds, users are learning about other cultures with also being a proud member of theirs’.
