Social media is very ubiquitous all around the world and draws the attentions of the people from all ages, especially the youth. With the improvement of social media, the number of the young people permitted to use these social tools without the guidance of their parents increases every day. This situation poses several problems, such as decrease in academic grades and technological addiction; however, there are a range of step to be taken to counteract them.
One common problem is that when children spend much time surfing in social media, they are less likely to complete their homework. As a result, their marks given by teachers may drop due to their bad habits. Even, they can fail the exams, leading to withdrawal from the course. Another challenge is addiction from technological gadgets. Allocating time of high amount to social media can cause addiction especially among youngsters. This may bring some health problems like obesity, which is common today’s world, due to sedentary and unhealthy lifestyle.
However, there are two effective solutions to the challenges of digital platforms. One way to tackle these problems is supervising the young people. Parents should impose restriction on the time spent on social media platforms. This can be a useful way to be sure that their children will not engage in online platforms for long periods. Also, they should allow them to use these platforms only for educational purposes, helping them to be more successful in their academic lives. Another method is to promote social activities. Government should invest more in public events to entice more people to be engaged in alfresco activities. This can encourage the youth to be in contact with other peoples and enhance their communicating skills.
In conclusion, organizing social events and parental monitoring are effective solutions to the problems engendered by social media. I recommend youngsters to use social platforms when it is necessary for their study and engage in outdoor activities to recharge their mental health.
