Band 7+: With the increasing automation of jobs through artificial intelligence and robotics, some believe that humans will become less valuable in the workforce. Others argue that this technological shift will create new opportunities and require humans to develop different skills. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

The development of artificial intelligence and automation has led to the displacement of some jobs. While some consider that it is a positive trend, others argue that it has a negative impact on community. This essay will first elaborate on both sides of the debate before explaining why I agree with the latter.

It is true that artificial intelligence plays a vital role in today’s job markets. It significantly improves productivity by allowing companies to complete tasks more quickly and efficiently with fewer human errors. For example, in many industries, such as manufacturing and customer service, automated systems can complete repetitive or dangerous tasks that would otherwise require human labor. As a result, this not only increases workplace safety but also helps businesses reduce operational costs and improve overall efficiency.

Proponents of the view that automation and artificial intelligence negatively affect on society believe that they lead to unemployment, as many workers lose their jobs when machines replace human labor in various industries. This particularly affects low-skilled employees who may struggle to find new opportunities in an increasingly automated job market. Another serious issue is that the expansion of AI technologies can increase social inequality, as only highly educated and technologically skilled individuals are able to benefit from new job opportunities, while others are left behind. As a result, the gap between different social groups may widen, creating long-term economic and social problems.

In conclusion, although automation and artificial intelligence are highly efficient and have created new work opportunities in modern fields, I still believe that their negative impacts, including increased unemployment and social inequality, may cause even more social and economic challenges.
