Artificial intelligence has been developed in many fields, and it has had a significant impact on the educational sector as well. However, there are two major perspectives on AI in education. Some people believe that AI will put an end to traditional classroom learning, and they argue that institutions should replace human teachers with AI tutors.
There are already many successful examples of personalized bot instructors, particularly in language learning. Students tend to speak more confidently and without hesitation on these platforms than they do with human instructors, as they often feel insecure about speaking a new language. In this context, AI technology proves to be beneficial.
On the other hand, some people argue that machine teachers cannot impart social ethics and emotional values, which can only be provided by real human beings. For example, language is merely a tool for communication; to truly connect and develop relationships, it is essential to understand the feelings of others.
In my perspective, while AI tutors may be the best option for online education, human teachers in traditional classrooms are irreplaceable.
