Advantage And Disadvantage

Band 7+: With the rise of remote work, companies are increasingly employing individuals from different countries instead of hiring locally. Do the advantages of a global workforce outweigh the disadvantages for both companies and local communities?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

The contemporary business landscape is defined by a shift in companies’ hiring preferences, with more employers choosing to look for new international workers, instead of hiring local people. Although these trends might cause personal hardship for local citizens, the boost for the country’s economy, as well as expanded hiring pool, makes up and outweighs the drawbacks.

On the one hand, the shift toward a globalized workforce is not without its drawbacks. It creates a number of serious issues, for example, when companies expand their workforce by choosing specialists from other countries instead of local residents. This shift strongly increases the unemployment rate, having a devastating effect on the local community. When a large number of people lose their income, it means the region is most likely to suffer from the lack of purchasing power among its citizens. Consequently, local businesses, such as cafes or shops will be forced to face the risk of bankruptcy, leading to economic stagnation.

On the other hand, companies might face several management challenges. For instance, different time zones might make it less convenient to arrange meetings or real-time communication. While these problems might affect corporate productivity, the access to an extended hiring pool of international experts, as well as considerable savings on labor costs, significantly outweighs the disadvantages. By hiring specialists from countries with emerging economies, coorporations can cut back operational costs while maintaining a high quality of their product.

In conclusion, despite the financial hardship faced by local residents due to overseas recruitment, the benefits this method provides trigger rapid economic growth, resulting in a strong and competitive nation.
