Advantage And Disadvantage

Band 4+: With the rise of remote work, companies are increasingly employing individuals from different countries instead of hiring locally. Do the advantages of a global workforce outweigh the disadvantages for both companies and local communities?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Employees living in different countries are getting hired by companies thanks to home working and globalization. I believe that advantages have the same weight of disadvantages because hiring people from different countries allows to give opportunity to other people, but cause salary discrepancies across the workforce.

Hiring from different nations, especialy poorer ones, might give the chance to talented people that wouldn’t have other choice to be found by employers and obtain their dream job. An example could be someone from a third world place, talented but without the chance to leave the nation to seek for a better job. This would help him to develop his full potential and leave a better life.

On the other hand, this globalization could lead businesses to seek workforce from other places across the world where labour comes with a cheaper price, paying lower salary to these employes, making it convenient for the company to not hire from the home country anymore. A blatant example can be identified with call centres: company hire people from india or other country in the middle east, to require cheaper prices for this kind of labour, exploiting less fortunate people.

To conclude, advanteges like talent scouting can be considered as important as the downside of cheap labour
