Recently, there has been an increase in the number of international tourists all around the globe. While some believe that this trend would impact the local inhabitants and the environment in a bad way, I believe that the advantages of international tourism would definitely outweigh the disadvantages.
International tourism comes with many benefits for both the government and the nation. Many countries depend on tourism as it strengthens the economy of such a nation. For example, Turkey’s economy is 60% dependent on tourism, when COVID 19 stopped international travel Turkey’s economy was greatly affected by such a ban. In addition, the nation can greatly benefit from meeting people from all around the globe, getting to know new traditions and getting to know new cultures. Meeting such people has proven to have positive psychological effects.
On the other hand, tourism has also proven to have a bad impact on the local enviroment. Unfortunately, many tourists treat the country they are visiting in a very poor way – they believe that since they will not come back then there is no need to take care of the environment. This fact was proven in 2020, when COVID 19 banned international travel, during that time the environment became a better place that included: better air quality, less water pollution , and less unrecycled waste.
In conclusion, I believe that the advantages of international tourism would outweigh that of the disadvantages; especially if we changed the approach and found solutions for current problems involved with international tourism.
