The internet has significant effects on our communication methods and there is a remarkable upward trend in terms of use of social networks. Whilst some people believe that this is a negative development and has vital drawbacks such as mental and physical risks, I agree with the opposite view because social media provides easier access to information.
On the one hand, social media carries the risk of health problems. These problems can occur as both mental and physical, depending on the subject. In other words, some people suffer from a lack of self-confidence whilst others complain about vision problems. The main reason of lacking confidence is the high expectations from the social media users, since people assume they all should be as gorgeous or as rich as the individuals they see on the internet. Moreover, social media may become an addiction to some people. Thus, spending couple hours a day with phones can result in vision issues, as this activity exhaust eyes.
Nevertheless, social media provides more comfortable and faster access to information. It it because a responsible use of applications such as X (formerly Twitter) can help people thrive in both personal and professional life, also enhance their knowledge, since millions of individuals post informative contents in these platforms everday. It also support crucial communication in times of need, such as eartquakes. For instance, after the destructive eartquake happened in Turkey and Syria, thousands of citizens used Twitter to get help and organise volunteers in the area. I totally agree with this argument because faster communication and efficient information transaction is essential for all people in the 21st century.
In conclusion, although some people believe that improvements on social media and the internet is negative, others think it is significant and necessary due to many benefits it offers and I agree with this statement.
